Vocational Pathways standards for 2018 now available

Posted on 2017-09-15 by PW

The Levels 1 - 3 standards for the six Vocational Pathways for 2018 are now available for schools and tertiary education organisations to use.

The Ministry has completed its annual update of the Vocational Pathways for 2017. It undertakes this each year with education and industry training representatives to ensure that the framework remains relevant for students, educators and employers and is aligned with the assessment standards and qualifications on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF).

To view the Levels 1 - 3 standards within the six Vocational Pathways for 2018, visit the Resources page and click on the 'Assessment Standards spreadsheets' button.

What has changed?

We have refined the assessment standards included within each pathway, to ensure they keep sending a clear signal about a young person’s progress towards study or work in one of the Pathways, and the coherence of their programme of learning.

Other updates include removing expired standards from before 2014, updating information about expiring and expired standards, mapping new Level 1-2 standards to the Vocational Pathways, and mapping new Level 3 achievement standards (including Level 3 Māori-medium standards) to the Vocational Pathways.

The changes will help educators develop a greater range of relevant, interesting, and challenging learning programmes for all students.
